Losing is not an option for Xu Minghao, even if you are his beer-pong partner.
Beer pong to most is a mere drinking game, but to Minghao, it is one of the many things he could brag about being good at and he likes knowing that he’s better at things than some people. It is simply his vice.
He admits when you volunteered to play a game as his partner, he was the slightest bit worried you’d skew his unusually positive results, but he’s Xu Minghao. He did exactly what needed to be done and as expected, his reputation precedes him.
He was launching balls like a skilled master, landing every shot when it was his turn, filling every one of the opposing cups in pristine precision. Eventually, he is nothing short of a victory, and a victory meant a reason to celebrate.
“S-shit, you’re so much better than imagined you’d be.”
Your hands are flushed around his girth, while your mouth is unremorseful as you cover every inch. His body relaxed on the wall behind him, heavily depending on the single lightbulb above your heads to focus on your glossy gaze that stares back at him in hunger.
Usually, beer isn’t enough to get Minghao’s mouth running, so that impelled him to make the game a bit more interesting by adding kaoliang liquor in a few of the cups. Not that it mattered when he started drinking straight from the bottle. You, however–a lightweight having your fair share of losses–drank two or three of the cups, resulting lack of inhibition when it came to your beer-pong partner, who couldn’t look more edible than the microwave burritos you were also craving.
He throws leisure jerks back at your throat, guiding you with his fingers through your hair that is wrapped in knots around his knuckles. The initial pain from the grip subsides with his filthy praises as he fully darkened glower watches you take him inch by inch. You muffle your moans in your venture, nails digging into the flesh of his thigh, and in the right light, Minghao can catch the delectable glisten of your drool falling out the corner of your lips.
“That’s right. You want to drain my balls down your throat, don’t you, filthy slut?”
Minghao isn’t himself with the alcohol in his system–or so he is rationalizing in his head–so the dirty talk is all coming from his ass, but if he knew any better, he’d think you’re enjoying it. A smile stretches so wide on your face, a giggle can’t help but escape from his. He adores seeing you work so hard, especially for his benefit.
He sees and feels your head bob in response, and in turn, he groans, thrusting back into your narrow pipe. His balls hit your chin, plugging the entry of oxygen, and your mascara runs down your cheeks from tears that finally shed.
“You’re taking my cock so fucking well,” his thrusts get harder, pushing himself down deeper, and the whines suppressed around him release in vibrations up his length. Minghao shudders violently. “Fuck, you little…stupid…slut…”
It’s interesting how bad you are at beer pong considering you quite literally are taking him balls deep, puffing your cheeks up similarly to a chipmunk storing away nuts in their mouth. It is impressive, shocking, yet so enthralling. He holds you by the back of your head, stilling your mouth over his entire structure, and his thick, viscous cum runs hot down your throat. He clenches his abdomen, holding you down, and still fucking your mouth until breathing becomes a foreign action even through your nose.
You cough when Minghao pulls out of you, his cum trailing down your chin and neck. He makes sure you're okay, pulling you up from the ground. The warmth in his eyes gives you whiplash, having you nod without even considering what words had left his lips. It’s in that split second before he pins your chest against the wall, hand cushioning against your ass.
“Think it’s your turn. Time for your reward.”
The tip of his digit glides up the curve of your posterior before his entire hand rams down your pants and tugs them off to expose your bare cheeks. The draft within the closet you’ve hidden away hits your skin before Minghao’s palm does, making yelp from the stinging of your flesh. You latch forward to the wall you’re embracing, his digit gliding over your arousal-moist lips and coating himself in a thin film.
“Shit, my cock made you that wet? How cute.” He swats your ass again, his moist thick lips catching the nape of your neck.
You moan his name, drunken and horny, and that same digit plunges into your core as his body presses against you. You feel his cock—once depressed from climaxing—start to inflate again and nudge against your back. You’re trembling, but don’t fear what’s to occur.
“Aren’t you glad we won,” he asks, pushing another finger inside. His knuckles press into the plush of your ass, the distance closing between him and your g-spot. You gasp, clenching around him desperately. Sounds of anguish overtake you as he bites against your neck, fingers competing with the speed of light. “You get to have me finger fuck you just. Like. this. That’s what you wanted, isn't it? Have you come apart around my fingers after you’ve eaten my cum?”
You swallow your affirmations, embarrassment written all over your face until he slams you forward, and your burning cheeks squish harder against the cold wall in front of you.
“You’re not going to answer me? Slut?”
“Yes.” You manage to breathe out.
He scoffs. “You gonna be a good slut and take my cock after you’ve had your fun?”
“Y-yes, Minghao.”
His breath is hot against your neck, pace accelerating. “So. Obedient.”
You can feel his smile send shivers down your spine, crying his name while you are whimpering for more. You’ve become one with the wall and don’t remember a life before it, too lust blind to focus on anything else. Meanwhile, Minghao memorizes every sound you make, determined to ingrain it into his internal storage for future occurrences to reference. His mind boggles at the kind of specimen you are, so malleable and edible he wants to make every part of you shake with ecstasy. He’d kill to be the one to give you the most intense orgasm you’d ever have and he is eager to try.
He withdraws his fingers when you’re seconds away from climaxing and replaces them with his cock, fucking yours at the same pace his fingers once did. “Hao!”
Your whimpers come out high-pitched to the point of nearly shattering glass if any existed in this cramped space. Minghao’s chest—completely gotten bare without ever getting noticed—burns against your skin. You feel the slickness of his tongue run up your neck before claiming your lips, his free hand forcing you to turn your head to him by your chin.
“That’s right, you take my cock,” he mumbles. Hot pants leave his tired body, but his legs not showing him giving out. His body slammed your front harder against the wall, so hard already imaging the type of bruises he’s left behind. “You like me…fucking you deep and hard…just like this?”
“Yes, yes,” You squeak, your body not even getting a second to take a break from his manhandling.
Although he was lean, he was toned, powerful, and had a grip stronger than any industrial glue in existence. The strength Minghao had in his arms and thrusts were unlike anything you expected and you couldn’t be happier to find out you were wrong.
“Pussy so good and wet for me, Shit.”
Although it feels amazing how he handles you, you crave harsher treatment, one that would leave you sore the following day and immobile the next. Knowing Minghao’s ego, all he needed was little encouragement. He couldn’t risk ending without a proper burial of him inside you. “Fuck me harder, please…I need more, let your cock give me more…I want you spilling inside me please.”
“Greedy little fuck,” he says through gritted teeth and forces himself to take faster strokes, now holding you by the neck.
The pressure of his fingers digs into the column of your neck and works its way to cutting off your airways. You claw at the walls, your eyes begin to roll back to your skull, and clenching for dear life as you take in his vigor. It hurts, it’s bliss, it’s heaven.
“Stupid. Fucking. Slut.”
You cum without warning, gushing around his length warmth, pushing your ass up against him with a low groan. That was his breaking point. Vulgar words escape the same way as his fat climax does, harsh and unforgiving, he fills your inside like it’s his canvas. All you can feel is pure heat and your legs begin to buckle before he holds you back up, caressing your legs.
“Shit,” you mutter, hand over your chest feeling your heart. “That…that was good.”
There’s a lingering silence and somehow you’re able to sense the tension in his form. “Good. Just good.”
“Great, Hao. It was great,” you emphasize.
“Well, good if you think that was great, but we’re not done. I’m not done.”
“But hao–”
“I said I’m. Not. Done. Not until I give you the best damn orgasm you’ve ever had.” He presses you up against the wall in that familiar way, dark eyes glaring back at you determination, fueled by spite.
“Understood?”

Lauren I’ve been trying to resist the op pull but I fear your match-up game might seal the deal (I mean you made me swoon for enji - there’s nothing you can’t do) 🤭
I’m a capricorn sun, virgo moon, scorpio rising & capricorn venus. My love-languages are acts of service + gift giving (although I do enjoy physical touch with the right person). My aesthetic is kinda all over the place but I do enjoy more dark academia, vampy, gothicy styles but my clothes don’t represent that aesthetic 100%. My favorite past times are reading, working out, video games + annoying my dog. The biggest ick I have are over-competitive men…nothing is ever that serious babe like calm down kxndjd. Also people have told me in the past that I usually come across as a quite cold & aloof person at first so ideally my match wouldn’t be deterred by that 🥺
OH and I’d prefer a male match pretty please & I’m okay with nsfw details - thank you so much in advance 😽
Oh Nana, my gothic, aloof darling, I give you: Crocodile.
Your cold and aloof first impressions would draw him in, and the warmth you have underneath would keep him. He seems the type to be enthralled by mysterious things and will want to find the hidden truths beneath the surface. He very much has the dark style as well, although more mob boss than vampy. You'd truly look great standing next to one another, your aesthetics would be very complimentary.
Crocodile has an air about him; he's confident and commands attention, even if he's not the loudest in the room. While he is not deterred by the idea of a bit of healthy competition, he's by no means competitive. He thinks he's the best and knows he deserves the best–and that's you.
Gift giving is 100% his love language. He's rich, he's powerful, he will buy you everything you desire and more. It thrills him to see you wearing clothes he gave you, jewelry he picked especially to match your eyes and skin tone. Money talks, and he wants it to scream on your body that he's spoiling you absolutely rotten.
Crocodile is greedy, and he would be especially greedy with you. Not jealous, (well, maybe a tad) but he would be greedy for your attention, your touch. He always has a hand on your hip, hand on your knee under the table, lips on your cheek at every possibility.
Despite being a little ~villainous~ in his own ways, Crocodile truly craves someone to see beneath his surface. As a Capricorn, you have an unwavering determination, so if you're set on seeing his soft side, he'll give it to you–and only you.

Okay last part of all the dolls ive owned until the 8th grade
7/10
This last surfer barbie was a great bathtoy, she was cali surfers sister and enemy. She had this lil minion as a daughter in my play world. They were evil. I dont know why i made them that way.
9/10
Barbies swan lake doll was the most extravagant that i had and the last barbie too. She had lit up wings that were ice blue and this poppin gown. She was a queen of course. A Glinda of the north if you will. Got her for xmas along with a bratz doll
8/10
Soccer chloe was my first due to the sport we share. I kept her soccer trophie next to mine and constantly played with her straight heavy hair. I thought bratz were totally hotter than barbie. You could make two bratz kiss easier too.
Both are 8/10
Hand-me-downs from a neighbor with this near exact outfit scheme for each (only no feet or boots for yaz). It was a birthday present and i loved them for their skin and hair palettes and fat ass mouths.
10/10
Last but not least, yasmin forever diamonds with a complimentary cd of the album. I lived for this one. Her ponytail was lethal, and makeup was the best! I loved the feeling of holding her and using her as a hair whip to other dolls with attitudes. She was my last bratz doll before i started getting into monster high for a short short time.
9/10
Yeah i had a lotta beachy, surfy dolls. She was my first and one of three i got all at the same time from my nana. I loved her shoes and holding her like a lolipop.
6/10
The final frontier. This couple were often antagonists to others. They were fun to own for the time but i was falling out of it really. Deuces hips ripped apart (held together by a thick fabric elastic) after my neighbor was making him bring it around town like spongebob.
Not everyone grew up with dolls and im very grateful for the ones i had. And i hope they are being played with by someone right now.

Ah yes I see and like your interpretation of Hardison’s overcompensation too (mine may have too much projection lol). I don’t know if I agree that the show “did Hardison dirty” but I also don’t know if that’s an Internet phrase that has a special meaning I don’t know!
I guess most of his backstory was focused on his Nana and the foster system but I wish we had a Significant Person from his post show up like for the others. (But hey! Breanna may help with more backstory and such in the revival!!)
I think I really just disagreed with the implication that those two episodes were bad characterization for him/didn’t fit his characterization because I liked how they extended (the ice man job more so than the gold digger job though, I think the gold digger job would have been better if it was pulled back a season or two). But re-reading your post/tags I’m not sure you actually said the episodes were bad characterizations and I may just be reading too much into it!
(As to Nate (disclaimer that I actually like him to a degree just not as much as the others but I don’t hate him as much as some) I think he kinda does that with the whole team but only with their skill set. The problem is he’s mentally defined Hardison’s skill set as “everything” which while complimentary would also be very stressful for him)
(Also about Parker tipping: I know right!! She was so separated from “normal” for so long that I can see her just not realizing things like this. Sort of like how in that one episode she seemed so surprised and sad that the man’s debt was from oncology (and then deleted it). She has all the compassion but not all the knowledge needed to apply it)
TBH a part of fan analyses is projection bc it colors each of our perceptions a little bit differently! this is why i love discourse bc as much as i love to defend my opinion, it’s just that: an opinion. and i also find that putting myself in someone else’s shoes is a great way of either confirming or editing my own thoughts so thank you for sharing your thoughts tbh
I AM ALSO HOPING FOR BREANNA TO FILL IN A LITTLE MORE ABT HARDISON but i also don’t want her to fall into the trap of being a tool to fill in hardison’s story line, you feel me? like i don’t want her AND hardison to both have the pitfall of having undeveloped backgrounds lmao
and i may have said bad characterizations i think? tbh i should read through those again and edit for clarity but anyway rather, i think it’s more apt to say inconsistent characterizations rather than Bad. bc hardison is still, for the most part, hardison. there’s just inconsistencies (in my eyes at least) that don’t make sense since they’re characteristics that seem to only show up in those episodes! i think i need to sit down and force myself through those episodes a few more times to really put my thoughts into words BUT YEAH - not necessarily bad, just very inconsistent and Weird to me.
YOUR PARKER COMMENTS KILL ME I LOVE IT SO MUCH ITS SO SO SO TRUE, like she was under socialized as a child bc of what her past in the system and what archie did to her and if you’re raised up AS a thief, there’s not a lot of time to teach morals or compassion in a morally dubious field like thievery. like she didn’t really even know WHY she was stealing only that it gained her money and it was fun to solve problems. it’s just like sophie realizing that stealing art still had a seedy underground that got people hurt despite it not being like eliot’s job where he was doing the hurting you know? once they both looked past the immediate gratification of the Self they realized that they could do something to help others.
#txt: long post#txt: reply#user: anon#note: I ACCIDENTALLY FORGOT TO ADDRESS THE NATE STUFF BUT YEAH i give his character shit but i really do think he was ultimately the#note: best thing For the crew like he teaches them how to harness the inherent want to do good in all of them and gives them the tools to#note: do it and for that he gets a pass for the most part LMAO#note: BUT YES people keep tagging that original post with ‘this is just how millennials are forced to work’ and THAT’S the most apt analogy#note: i can think of nate’s expectations for hardison LMAOOO

▌: ♚ ♔ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ you should see me in a C R O W N ❜
trc triple threat challenge, im nana / singing & rap ( 0:33 - 1:37 ) / dance ( 0:30 - 1:14 )
• • •
the more she watches in wait, auburn hues glued to the stage, honing in on the way each auditioner twists and ticks their limbs with purpose, vigor -- the more it causes her to wonder why she’s really here, what was her true intentions of auditioning when the prize of a contract from trc seems less than ideal.
was it soohyun’s influence? her saccharine tone perceived even through colorless texts? or maybe even daniel’s, with that boyish grin and endless praises -- maybe it was enough flattery for her to make her way to where the contest was being held.
or was this really for herself? a redemption of sorts, a way to prove to no one else but herself that she still has that je ne sais quoi that impressed recruiters from royal years ago, still has the skills that allowed them to offer her a contract. especially with the disappointment that follows rejection, one that she’s come to be familiar with within the past couple of years after failed interviews, failed auditions.
winning this contest wasn’t really her goal, she understood that it was possibly a long shot from the get-go ( could she do all three skills they were looking for? yes, of course. could she do all three skills well? now that’s a different question ), it was more about replenishing the confidence that was lost from past circumstances.
although, something pleasant, like a contract offering or even a scouting, would also be accepted as well. just, you know, a small thought that she would put out into the universe.
it’s a revelation nana has come to realize when it’s almost her turn to perform, eyes still upon whoever is up there at the current moment but too much within her head to actually pay attention to them. the past week or so since she’s decided to actually go forward with this has been filled with practice within her free time; whether it’s within the dance studio that she currently belongs to or even within her home ( and she needs to make a reminder to herself to send the neighbors below her a complimentary fruit basket for their troubles ), even going so far as to hiring a vocal coach for her singing -- because lord knows that wasn’t something that was going to get better on it’s own.
and she’s proud of the work, of her effort. but the realistic part of her knows that she can’t keep going for this dream, especially at the age of 23. especially when she’s already making strides on her own in the designer world, slowly but surely breaking her way into it. she couldn’t keep hoping for a chance -- so maybe it was a sign if nothing good came out of this. maybe it’s time to put away teenage dreams and focus on what was already going well for her as an adult.
maybe.
the woman is so caught up in her thoughts she almost doesn’t hear her name being called, that it’s her turn and it’s with a slight jump of her body that she shuffles her way on the main area of the stage. the curious eyes of the small crowd that’s gathered in front of her is nerve wracking, but the presence of tiger jk himself watching her every move is straight up intimidating.
now this, handling her nerves, was something she couldn't practice at home.
“hello! my name is im jinah, and i hope that you’ll enjoy my performance.” she bows the introduction, crimson lips pulling into a wide grin and as she moves back a couple of steps. and as if on cue, the instrumental starts, leaving her no time to sit and wonder -- she parts her lips and shows what she’s made of.
살짝 졸리네 난 앞으론 밖으로 나갈 일이 없어졌지 네가, 더 이상 나와 함께할 일이 없을 거라 말했어 it's okay, it's fine, i understand
it’s not a hard-hitting hip hop song, nothing dark with a fast rhythm and a hard flow -- it’s the exact opposite. light, almost dreamy, kind of sweet. something that fits her style, her tone, as well as who she was as a person -- there was no need for her to put on facade to show that she could fit into trc.
하지만 언제든 전화해 미안하다거나 죄책감이 들어 네 정신을 괴롭힐 때면 lean that, clean that, erase it, just erase it
and she enjoys the sing song nature of it, the rap-singing that showcases her honey sweet tone -- and before the crowd could get used to it and think that’s all she’s got, the rhythm picks up while her voice drops into something a little more deeper, more what one would expect out of a rapper.
and it’s the next verses that comes more naturally to her, where she’s able to relax a bit as she showcases her flow. it’s a bit rusty, a tad bit awkward since she can’t remember the last time that she’s actually rapped in front of people ( especially because the last time she called herself a rapper bring up bad memories ), but gives an attempt to not let it show. nana makes uses the expanse of the stage, walking around and trying to engage with the rather dry crowd in order to not showcase her awkwardness,
the chorus hits and she’s back to singing, praying to god that her voice doesn’t crack thanks to tiger jk only being feet away from her, swaying to the sort melody that comes from the speakers as well as her lips. there isn’t too much that she can do when it comes to this song with a slow tempo, but nana tries to make the best of it, tries to show that she’s having a good time. the first portion of her audition comes to a close with a last verse of rapping, sounding a lot more smooth with her words and ending it with a couple of nods of her head and a grin.
it was better to get the hardest part done first, after all.
she can feel her nerves leaving her as she slips off her jacket with ease, moving into position for her dance portion, the one that she felt a lot more confident in. ariana grande’s vocals fill the area as god is a woman starts to play, a small mix of the beginning to introduce the song before it jumps right her part, and allows the power that comes from her assurance flow through her and start the song.
unlike her rapping and singing, her dancing ability has never left her -- because nana hasn’t allowed it to. pole dancing kept her body limber, while dance workshops and signing up to be a regular in the dance studio has kept her at ( almost ) peak performance, popping and bending her body with such an ease that can only belong to a trained dancer. the routine is different than her usual, though -- one that has an almost contemporary flair mixed with hip hop instead of the precise movement that comes with waacking. there’s a lot more movement upon the floor and instead of worrying about all the germs and sweat that slabs have inhabited throughout the day, she focuses on her expressions; or on making sure that she’s not getting ahead of the beat.
and with a rotation of her body at the climax, she ends her audition with her face down. chest heaving from the exertion and adrenaline thrumming within her body. there’s nothing more left for her to do then to stand up and bow to the crowd and the judges, giving a light wink ( just because ) before she makes her way off the stage.
regardless of results, nana comes to realize that there’s still a performer within her. she’s still got it.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - ‘Crossfire’ Review
Sisko: "They say to err is human. But you’re not human, Odo. You’re not even humanoid. And this is not the sort of mistake I’d expect from you."
A quiet, but moving and key episode, where everything works very well.
This episode opens with a simply lovely scene of Odo readying his office for Major Kira’s arrival. He checks the time, puts the chair at a certain position, prepares her raktajino just the way she likes it, and even makes sure that the handle is angled conveniently for her. She arrives with a cheerful good morning, sits down and takes large swallow while he gazes fondly at her, then they have a great time discussing petty criminal activity on the station. These are two people with deep affection for each other.
Of course, in television series, true love rarely runs smooth, and the arrival of First Minister Shakaar (an old resistance friend of Kira’s) causes problems, as Shakaar is also an old friend of Kira’s, and also has feelings for her. A credible threat to Shakaar’s life requires Odo and Shakaar to spend a lot of time together, which also means that Odo is compelled to watch Shakaar woo Kira.
One thing I like about this episode is that very little feels forced (except for making Chief O’Brien appear at the docking station to greet the First Minister, but otherwise Colm Meaney would have had no lines). Shakaar’s arrival at the station to negotiate with the Federation is perfectly logical. So is the fact that some Cardassian-sponsored group would be attempting to kill off key Bajoran officers. By giving Eddington vacation, Worf gets to take charge of the Federation contribution to security, and that’s also organic.
Not only does the plot feel organic, but the characters do as well. Both Odo and Shakaar are in love with Kira, and both have been hesitating to make a move because they don’t want to ruin their friendship with her, and also because they know that she is still mourning Vedek Barail. It also makes sense that Shakaar is the one who makes the first move. Shakaar has had romantic relationships before, while Odo has had none (and even isn’t humanoid, and probably isn’t even sure that he could or should have a relationship). What is heartrending is when Kira, her whole person alight with joy, tells Odo about her new romance. How she had always thought of Shakaar as just a friend, someone she had known for years – these all apply to Odo as well. And Kira gives Odo an intense hug, for deep down she loves Odo too.
Most people on the station don't notice Odo's love for Kira. Odo is so alien, the only shapeshifter that they know, that they simply don't have enough data to conceive that such emotion is possible. However, Quark has noticed, and realizes how deeply Odo is affected (although even Quark is surprised). Quark is a keen observer, and, as someone who occasionally breaks the law, Quark has always had good reason to watch Odo carefully. Besides, Quark and Odo have both been on the station a long time, even during the Cardassian occupation, so their acquaintance goes back years. Quark is frequently harassed by Odo (of course sometimes he deserves it) but he does care about the Constable. He shows that when he shows up at Odo’s quarters in the middle of the night and asks, among other things, “Are you OK?” Quark also gives Odo some advice: either tell her how you feel, or get over her.
It’s nice that the assassin plot – the source of danger – ends well before the episode ends. The arrest is actually accomplished by Worf, who is unusually complimentary to Odo about how well he trained his staff. Perhaps he is recalling the chastising from Sisko in an earlier episode ("Hippocratic Oath") or perhaps he has also figured out that something is seriously bothering Odo and is going easy on the Constable. Or perhaps Odo trained his staff really well, and Worf is telling the literal truth.
The episode ends with Shakaar now being Kira’s guy, and Odo deciding to do what he can to get over Kira. He plans to throw himself into his work, cancels their weekly meetings, and stops making the belt that she had admired.
Title musings: “Crossfire” is the title of the episode. Crossfire can be defined as two groups literally firing at one another, two forces clashing, or just a heated political debate. I suppose that Odo and Shakaar are at odds with each other, and Shakaar is arguing (off-camera) with the Federation. I guess you could also say that Odo is at odds with himself – what is he, a changeling, doing having feelings for a solid? But these interpretations feel like stretches. I don’t think the title is inspired.
Bits and pieces
In my opinion, the relationship between Odo and Kira is the most important in the series.
My hat is off to Nana Visitor and Rene Auberjonois for their excellent acting in this episode.
Duncan Regehr, the actor who plays Shakaar Edon, had another part in a TNG episode, "Sub Rosa" (7:14), where he was a sort of ghost (and kind of hot).
It’s fun to watch Odo and Worf compare notes on how to discourage people from stopping by.
You might think it’s unrealistic for Kira not to notice that Odo is interested in her. However, I’ve seen that exact same thing happen in real life before.
During this episode, Odo seems to take breaks from his usual regeneration cycle without suffering ill effects.
I like how Odo stops the turbolift's fall. Having a shapeshifter around can be extremely convenient.
Quotes
Kira: It’s just Quark’s luck that you would be assigned quarters just above his. Odo: Luck had nothing to do with it.
Adjutant: If Shakaar canceled his public appearances every time someone threatened his life, he would never leave his office.
Kira: Shakaar knows better than anyone that you can’t capitulate to terrorists. He used to be one, and the day the Cardassians started to negotiate with him was the day he knew they’d been beaten.
Odo: I’ve been working with the Federation for a number of years. They claim to be open and understanding, but somehow, they’re always convinced that they’re right.
Shakaar: I’m afraid to say anything, because it might ruin our friendship. But if I don’t I might let something very precious slip through my fingers.
Quark: It takes passion to do something like this, and I always thought you were colder than a Breen winter.
Odo: Funny. For a minute I thought you were talking to me as a friend.
Overall Rating
As I rewatched this episode for this review, I appreciated it anew. Fabulous acting, and even although there’s important stuff going on in the background (assassination attempt, Federation negotiation), the episode focuses on what matters: Odo and his love for Kira. Three and half out of four precisely placed raktajinos.

FDR Foster X Reader (This Means War)
I Gift Thee Chris and Karl || @goingknowherewastaken Birthday Challenge, Flower Shop AU
Word Count: 3.2K
Characters: Franklin “FDR” Foster, Alexus (OC), Nana, Tuck, the kid with a bucket on his head from the movie.
Warnings: I think like one cuss word?
Summary: When FDR’s florist moves away, he is forced to find another person to buy flowers for dinner on Saturday nights at Nana’s. Luckily he found you.
A/N: Hey, you guys! I wrote this fic for Katie’s birthday challenge! Sorry it’s a day late, but i’m suck at finishing things on time. I hope you had a fun day and that you like this fic!
This is my first time writing FDR, and I’ve only seen the movie like once, so I hope it’s not too OOC for ya! So without further adieu, let’s get into it!
masterlist
The shop is relatively empty for a Saturday afternoon, but you don’t mind much. You bob your head to the music playing over the loudspeakers as you gather some freesia blossoms to add to a bouquet that’s being prepared for a client’s order. The only other people inside your corner flower shop is a couple looking for flowers for their wedding reception, browsing through a book of your arrangements.
You check on the couple, Tom and Jess, you remember as you’re walking away, to make sure they don’t need anything from you before going back to your task. You’re just wrapping up a group of flowers a few minutes later when you hear the bell above the door chime with a new customer arriving.
“Just a minute,” you call out and receive a “no rush” in return. The bouquet you were finishing up now in the cooler and waiting to be picked up, you make your way back out into the main area of the shop. The buckets that line the shelves are full of beautiful blooms and you take a moment to appreciate their scents on your way to where you heard the man’s voice come from.
“Hi, welcome to Wild Blooms. Can I help you with anything today,” you ask in your pleasant customer voice.
The customer is looking at a bucket of pink carnations with mild interest but turns around at your voice. When he turns his eyes to you, the bright blue blue color stuns you for a moment, his light brown hair falling onto his forehead. Breaking out of your trance, you await his response.
“I’m just looking for some flowers to take to dinner,” he replies, his voice smooth as honey.
“I can help with that. Would you like a custom bunch, a vase, or there are pre-made bouquets that you can choose from,” you offer.
“I may get a pre-made one for today.”
You nod and lead him back to the glass-front cooler where you keep the already made arrangements, some of them made just this morning. “This is what we have for right now. Are you looking for anything in particular?”
“I just want it to be special, can you recommend something?” The man looks at you for your opinion, and he brushes a piece of blond hair from his forehead.
“Well, roses are usually safe. Or if you want something different, this one is pretty special,” you say, pointing out a particular arrangement. It’s beautiful, anemones and blue ranunculus interspersed with Alister roses and sprigs of greenery. He smiles brightly at the colorful flowers.
“These are beautiful! I’ll take them.”
“Alright, I’ll get these and check you out. Come with me,” you nod toward the counter in the back where the register sits, already grabbing the flowers from the cooler and heading in that direction. You pull some brown paper from a roll on the wall and wrap the bouquet neatly, tying red twine across the stems when you were done and ringing the man up. When he’s done paying, you give a large smile to the attractive man. “All done here, I hope you enjoy them…” you trail off, hoping to get his name.
“FDR. It’s nice to meet you…Y/N.” He trails off, looking to your name tag. “Thank you for the flowers, she’s gonna love them,” he smiles, looking down at the arrangement sitting on the counter.
Your face falls at the realization, but you cover it quickly with a smile. Of course a man as handsome as him isn’t single. You pick up the flowers, handing them to him. “Have a nice day,” you wave before getting back to work.
For weeks, almost like clockwork, FDR would come into the shop on late Saturday afternoons and buy a bouquet, leaving with a flirty comment and a parting wink, so you’re not expecting it when the man shows up on a Friday. You’ve just removed yourself from the storage room with a new shipment of flowers, your hands full of bright sunflowers when you see him. He’s making his way to the back of the store, to the cash register stand.
“FDR,” you say with slight confusion in your tone. He turns around at the mention of his name and smiles when he sees you, his bright blue eyes lighting up. “Y/N, hey!”
“You’re a little early,” you say lightly, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. You didn’t know that the man you have a slight crush on would be in today, so you’re just wearing jeans and a tank top with your hair up in a messy bun. FDR thinks you look good though, running an appreciative eye down your figure as you’re distracted, sitting down the container of flowers you were previously holding.
“Yeah, I am. I am here to pick out a bouquet but I have to go into work tomorrow, so I thought I’d come in today and have them delivered. As long as that’s okay,” he trails off. You nod, perhaps a little too quickly, and that is confirmation enough for him. “I really wanna do something special this time. Do you think you’re up for helping me put together an arrangement?”
“Of course,” you exclaim, and FDR chuckles at the way your whole face lights up at all the possibilities. “Where would you like to start?”
“I wanted something a little different, maybe something I haven’t gotten. I was looking at those last time I was here.” FDR points to the corner filled with peonies, the large blooms having caught his eye before. The two of you walk over, where FDR cups one of the peach blooms softly in one hand.
“You like these? I just got this batch in yesterday.”
“They’re gorgeous,” FDR says and you get to work. He tells you that he has something big in mind, so you pick out some blooms on the larger side.
With the peach peonies in your work bucket, you make rounds around the shop picking out complimentary blossoms, the container full of orange, white, and bright pink roses respectively, baby’s breath, begonias, and small tufts of yarrow.
You bring FDR to a workstation and he sits down the bucket that he had insisted on carrying as it was filled up. You take a break, grabbing two cold water bottles from the fridge and handing one to him. You sit on a bench for a few minutes, looking around.
“You know I opened this shop almost two years ago,” you say in reminiscence, distracted by the memory of receiving your first customer.
FDR turns his head to look at you from where he’s sitting beside you. “Really? I didn’t know you owned this place,” he hums.
“Yep,” you say, popping the p. “My mom loves flowers. Our house was surrounded by them growing up and I would always look up the names so I could remember them later. I guess that stuck with me, flowers are my passion now. I like making people happy too, seeing a smile on someone’s face as they receive a bouquet, that’s why I make my own deliveries sometimes.”
FDR watches as you talk and look back, the smile on your face coming easily to you as his own lips stretch into a matching grin. The overwhelming urge to kiss you comes to him, and not since the first time he’s met you. As soon as he saw the enthusiasm that you approach your work with, FDR was hooked and knew that he wanted to know more about you. Thinking back on it, Franklin Foster is so happy that his old florist moved away.
His attention is drawn back to you when the sound of your laugh reaches his ears, fingers snapping in front of his nose. It’s a sound that he hasn’t heard nearly enough, and the corners of his mouth turn up instantly.
“You still with me,” you ask through giggles.
“Always,” he chuckles.
“Let’s get to work, you goof.” You sit down your water bottle and turn to the table, looking through the bucket of flowers and deciding on a game plan. “You said you wanted them in a vase, right?” He agrees and you help him pick one out from the shelf along the wall before getting to work.
Two sets of hands work quicker than one, and soon enough you’re finishing up, wrapping a pretty pink ribbon around the vase to be delivered tomorrow. You try to get the bow just right, absolutely /not/ trying to stall. When you’re done, FDR will leave and you’ll be left alone with your work and a skipping heartbeat just like many times before. As you’re adjusting one of the rose blossoms, making sure that it’s turned right, you feel more than see someone coming up behind you.
“Perfect,” a low voice murmurs next to your ear and you smile. Lifting your head from examining the arrangement, you turn your head to meet your gaze with FDR, a soft expression in his eyes.
You smile and giggle softly, looking back at the vase. “Yes, well, I can’t take all the credit. You did help.”
“Right, the flowers,” he clears his throat, “yeah, they look amazing.” A crease forms between your brows as you try to figure out what he means by that, but he’s talking before you can think too much about it. “Can these be here at seven o’clock tomorrow night,” he asks, handing you a slip of paper with an address written on it.
“Yeah, of course,” you say, and your voice comes out less than enthused, so you put on your customer service smile to try and make up for it. FDR looks at you with scrutiny, recognizing the look on your face.
“You don’t have to do that, put on a fake expression. You can be you around me, I hope you know that, Y/N.”
Your eyebrows draw upwards in surprise that he noticed, but you soothe your face back down to normal. You clear your throat and speak, your voice coming out quieter than you expected. “Thank you, FDR. You too,” and you mean it, a small smile lifting your mouth. He leaves not long after that, promising to speak to you soon.
The next day you’re going through some papers in your office when one of your delivery people Alexus sticks her head in the open doorway. “Hey boss, I’m about to head out for my evening run. Is this everything,” she asks, gesturing to the line of flowers waiting to be loaded into the van. You look over them, nodding your head and then stopping when your eyes land on the peony bouquet that you and FDR put together the night before.
“Yeah Lex, I’ll take this one though. Let me help you load these up.” You help Alexus with the flowers and make sure the vase is secure in the car before checking yourself over. You may not even see FDR, but your minimal makeup, casual white and black striped dress, and flats look passable with your hair down in waves. It’s better to be prepared, right? You check the address slip that’s attached to a vase and get ready to head to the house outside of town.
When you pull up to the address, you think that it’s not what you were expecting. The farmhouse and the surrounding land is beautiful, but you were surprised by the number of vehicles parked outside. There must be an event going on inside, you think to yourself.
You pick the vase up and carry it carefully to the front door lest it break, and make sure to pocket the address and billing information so the person on the receiving end doesn’t see it. There’s a card attached that you hadn’t seen before, FDR must have written it while you weren’t paying attention. You ring the doorbell by the front door and hear the chimes sound throughout the large house. While you wait, your curiosity gets the better of you and you peek down at the card that reads
Happy birthday Nana, you’re a Saint for putting up with me for all these years.
You barely have time to process this new information when the door opens in front of you and you bring your lips into a shy smile. You come to face an elderly woman, her white hair tucked back into an elegant updo, a dress and heels adding to the air of sophistication. She looks to you and her red lips pull into a bright grin when she spots the flowers in your hands.
“Oh my, such lovely flowers,” she says excitedly in a British accent. “Are these from my Franklin?”
“Franklin,” you mutter confusedly, tilting your head, and before you can open your mouth again to ask who that is, you hear your name being called and you turn around.
“Y/N! I didn’t know you would be here,” FDR says as he walks closer to you, having just arrived.
“I told you that I make deliveries sometimes,” you say sheepishly, shrugging a shoulder.
You glance uneasily back to the front door that’s still open and FDR smacks himself on the forehead, walking over and embracing the woman, who is still standing there.
“Nana, this is Y/N. Y/N, this is my Nana. This woman raised me, and I can’t thank her enough.”
“It’s so nice to meet you, and I’m guessing these are for you,” you say with a genuine smile this time.
Nana accepts the flowers readily and pulls them up to her face to smell, taking the time to appreciate their beauty.
“Thank you for bringing these,” FDR puts a hand on your back and leans a little closer to you as Nana is otherwise occupied, though she doesn’t miss the exchange.
“Of course,” you reply, suddenly bashful.
“We are having a little celebration out back, would you like to stay for the party? You can keep Franklin company,” Nana speaks up.
FDR groans inwardly at her meddling, but he still smiles when you look to him for reassurance. “That sounds nice.”
The two of you follow Nana inside, your shoulders brushing as she leads you through the impressive house to a fenced-in area of the backyard.
“Look what this sweet girl brought me,” she announces to anyone listening and you hear back a few praises on the arrangement.
“Thank you, Nana, but FDR helped me,” you didn’t want to take all the credit for the flowers.
“Oh please, all I did was point out one flower. You matched the rest and put them together beautifully,” he replies affectionately. You bite your lip at the compliment.
After a few minutes of chatting between the two of you, you are interrupted by a loud voice nearby speaking in a British accent. “Look who finally showed up,” is heard before a shorter man comes over to FDR and wraps him in a warm, albeit rough hug.
“Collins had me come in today, I told you that yesterday.”
“Yes, well, you failed to mention that you would be bringing a date to Nana’s birthday.” The man turns to you, putting out a hand for you to shake and you do. You can’t help but notice that FDR doesn’t correct him about you being his date. “My name is Tuck, I’m his brother,” he says with a thumb pointed towards your companion.
“Y/N, it’s nice to meet you, Tuck. So I’m guessing you could tell me a bunch of embarrassing stories about Franklin,” you say, putting a teasing emphasis on his real name. FDR groans, and is that a blush painting his cheeks? You giggle at this.
“You have no idea, love. There was this one time, in Bangladesh-” Tuck starts but is cut off by FDR interrupting him.
“Let’s not do this right now, Tuck. Another topic please, any other topic?” You smirk at how flustered this confident charmer has become.
Tuck laughs before turning the conversation. “So how did you meet Frank?”
You tilt your head to look up at him with a smile, thinking to the first time you met him. “I’m a florist, I own a flower shop in town. FDR came in one day, clueless about what to buy, so I helped him. He’s come in every Saturday since. I actually brought an arrangement here today.”
“Oh you’re the cute florist he’s always going on about. It was getting annoying, but I can’t say I blame him.”
You hear a strangled sort of noise and look beside you to where it seems to have come from. “You okay,” you question, concerned but still amused.
“I’m fine.”
Tuck leaves after this, going off to sit with his wife and son, leaving you to your own devices, promising to tell you all of Franklin’s terrible and funny stories. You plan to take him up on it.
FDR walks with you over to an empty table that’s been set up, and you sit down, him following. He looks at you, a shy smile on his face. “I’m sorry about my family. They can be a little much, at times.” FDR shakes his head affectionately.
You laugh, looking over at him with a smile. “I like them, they’re fun.”
He shrugs, watching a little boy run by with a bucket over his head. A laugh escapes his lips at the boy’s antics. “Yeah, sometimes.”
After a little while, dinner is served and you sit with FDR, chatting about your lives, learning more about each other. “So Nana raised you?”
“Yeah, yeah she did. What that woman must have went through, I was a bit of a troublemaker growing up.”
“I don’t know, I think you grew up pretty well,” you say with a faux thoughtful smile, teasing. FDR rolls his eyes good-naturedly and you giggle. “No, but really. It’s great of you to get her flowers every week, that’s so sweet. Not many people do that lately. I make my living off of people trying to make up for mistakes, and the occasional wedding. But not you.” You duck your head as you realize that you’ve been talking for too long. You shrug, “I don’t know, I think you’re pretty special.”
FDR reaches a hand out to touch your cheek, his thumb running over your cheekbone, and as you lift your head up, your eyes are met with his brilliant blue ones.
“I think you’re pretty special, too.” You feel your cheeks flush and lean into his touch, looking up at him from under your eyelashes. “I don’t know if I’m reading this wrong, but… can I see you sometime, outside of Wild Blooms?”
You can’t help but giggle, nodding your head happily. “Of course you can.”
“Good,” FDR nods. “How about dinner tomorrow night, I’ll pick you up at your place?” The hopeful look in his eyes makes you melt inside, and suddenly you can’t wait for tomorrow night.
Feeling brave, you lean forward quickly and confidently, placing your lips on his cheek and lingering before pulling away slowly. The goofy grin that takes over FDR’s face makes your expression match, his happiness infectious.
From across the yard, Nana stands with Tuck, watching the two of you with fondness. “I think Y/N is good for him,” Nana observes.
“Yeah, she is,” Tuck nods, and then laughs. “Now we’ve just got to break it to her what he does for a living.”

‘The Winds Have Changed’ (Part 4) Noodlemoon
Part 4.
Note: Hooray for another update!
Eddie awoke rather lazily. He somehow managed to make it to his couch to sleep the night rather than his own bed. No matter; the sheep slept comfortably enough. He stretched his body across the comfortable surface and rolled over. He tried going back to sleep but the urge to use the bathroom overwhelmed him and so he got up. Once risen from the couch, Eddie experienced a massive head rush and placed a hoof to his temple. Yup, going to need painkillers for that, he thought. He headed to the kitchen and browsed his medicine cabinet until he found them. After addressing the morning hangover, Eddie made a breakfast of oatmeal and assorted fruits with complimentary orange juice. He never really cared for cooking, but living on his own made him learn more about it and the more he was forced to do it, the more he enjoyed it; primarily because he was actually creating edible dishes now. Once he was done, he sat down and began to eat. While doing so, Eddie tried thinking about the events of the night before. He and Buster had hung out and played games, had dinner, picked a movie, had made himself a really good cocktail... and that's about it, he thought. Nothing exciting. He had thought he remembered an intimate moment, as if he had kissed someone but he brushed the thought aside and figured it was just a thought he had the night before. He took another bite. As the sleepy hazed brushed to the side, more memories began to come back to him. He remembered Buster leaving in a rush. Like he was scared of something... Eddie shook his head; why would Buster be afraid? It was just the two of them. Maybe something with the bank... Eddie wracked his brain. No, Buster in financially stable now... Another bite of oatmeal. That's right, we talked about his bachelor status. Eddie grinned at the thought of teasing Buster about being single. He took another bite of his meal. Maybe he was afraid of me asking about such personal things? I mean, I'm no stud either. Another bite. Oh yeah, I asked him about liking guys. Probably made the poor guy nervous, Eddie recalled his actions while in his drunken state. Always thought Buster had a thing for guys and girls, never thought he was a full out queer. Then again, I guess not many people would guess the same about me. Eddie mused about his romantic life. He really did miss having a partner, a boyfriend. His mind went back to Buster. He again scooped some oatmeal onto his spoon and took a bite. He is really cute... Eddie spat out the mouthful of oatmeal and choked on the last bit of it. He stood up from the kitchen island and beat his chest to help cough out the rest of the oatmeal remnants.
"Oh my God..." Eddie held a hoof to his mouth and began tapping the other feverishly against the island's top.
"Oh my God, oh my God ohmyGod..."
Eddie began to hold his head in his hands. He let out a multitude of curses as he remembered last night. He remembered why Buster left in a frightened state.
"Shit, how am I going to make it up to him for that?"
Buster and Johnny had been perusing the impressive bike shop. Buster was overwhelmed with all the different brands and models he didn't know where to start. Johnny had gone over to where the skateboards were held which left Buster to browse on his own. Buster decided to narrow down his selection by talking to an employee, a gazelle.
"Yes, excuse me sir, but do you have any bikes with fitted pedals for individuals of my size?"
The gazelle swung himself over th counter and had a rugged look to him. He looked at the koala like he hadn't heard what he said and when Buster was about to speak again, he was cut off.
"Yeah, I'll take you to them." The gazelle swaggered in front of him and started walking. Buster suddenly became very thankful of the teens he worked with. Meena, Ash and Johnny (until two months ago) were never so aloof with him. Buster was led to rows of bikes that had fitted pedals to accommodate his short legs. One by one, he hopped onto them and tested out how the bikes fit him. When he came to one that he especially liked, he rode it for a bit in the back parking lot and brought it to the front of the store to be checked out.
"I think this one will do!" Buster said enthusiastically.
The gazelle was looking in a separate direction trying on hid phone. Buster gave a cough. The teen was slow to be brought back to type on the computer the serial number for the bike. Buster tapped his fingers impatiently against the side of the bike. Finally, the teen looked up again from the screen.
"That'll be eight-hundred and fifty-two dollars and some change."
Buster shook his head at the gazelle saying 'and some change' and fished for his debit card.
"Here you go." Buster said and he handed over the card.
Bikes are expensive these days, he thought. But he really liked the look and model of the bike so he didn't mind spending a little extra for it. Plus it came with a warranty, so that was a bonus. The gazelle handed him back his card and a copy of his receipt to sign. As he was signing he heard Johnny telling the worker he was with the have a good day. Once Buster was done with the transaction Johnny came over and whistled.
"That's a fine lookin' bike there, Buster!"
"Glad you agree, Johnny! Spent a little more than I normally would but, hey, we all have to splurge at some point!" He gave the bike seat a rub.
"Yea, you bet!" Johnny run his hands over the framework and handles.
Buster turned his attention to the gazelle.
"Thank you, sir." He said a little awkwardly whilst giving a slight wave and turning away with the bike.
"No problem dude." He replied while on his phone again.
Johnny and Buster exited the shop and headed back to the same bus stop.
"Did you find what you were looking for?" Buster asked the gorilla.
"Yea, there were right kind bout' 'elping me, too! Put the trucks in and even replaced the paper of my board as well!" Johnny looked satisfied with his visit.
"Sounds like a good time. I unfortunately had to deal with that teenager. He wasn't much help; just kinda stood there on his phone and shrugged his shoulders when I asked him something."
"It did seem rather quiet over there with the two of you."
They arrived at the bus stop when Buster got an idea.
"Hey, how far away are we from the theater?"
The gorilla tapped his fingers. "bout' ten miles I'd say."
Buster thought a bit more.
"If you don't mind I think I'm going to test this cruiser out for a bit." He patted the bike.
"No, I don't mind at all. Have fun with it! And don't get hit by a car or anythin'!"
Buster laughed. "I'll make sure to keep that in mind!"
He hopped onto the bike seat and waved goodbye as he sped down the street. Although Buster was wobbly at first, he soon fell back into the familiar motions of biking; shifting his weight, timing his pedaling, braking at turns. It was an enjoyable experience riding the streets once again for the koala. Once he returned home to the theater, he set to work about scheduling an appointment with a real-estate agent and called until he found one that would book the rest of the day with him; not that that was hard considering he was the Buster Moon.
"Yeah, 2:45 should work!" Buster said on the phone. He was leaned back in his chair and twisted a finger through the cords. "Oh, You'll be providing a ride? Sounds lovely! I'll see you then! Thank you!"
Right when he hung up his work phone his personal cellphone started to chirp with an incoming call. Buster looked at his phone and saw that it was Eddie trying to reach him. There was a moment of panic that flung through him like a rip tide. For a moment, Buster contemplated just declining the call there but then decided that would be immature. He decided to overcome his anxiety and pick up the phone.
"Hello?" He said, wishing someone else would answer.
"Heyyy Buster... How's it going?" The sheep said, sounding a little uncomfortable.
"It's going good, and you?" He said, leaning a bit on his desk and trying his best to not sound awkward.
"Yeah man, same here. I, uh, you want anything?"
Buster was now definitely confused by the sheep.
"What do you mean?"
"Like, uh, a car or like, I don't know, a new desk..." Eddie's voice broke a bit.
"Uhh, no, Eddie, I'm fine. Plus your Nana refurbished the office, so... Thanks for the random, er, generosity though."
There was a moment of silence between the two. Buster ran a hand over his pant-leg to remove the sweat that had formed on his palm. Eddie broke the silence.
"Uh, okay, just let me know if you, ya know, want anything."
"I'll keep that in mind, Eddie. Thank you."
Buster knew he was running away from the situation. Here Eddie was, his forming object of desire. But he didn't know what to say or ask without sounding creepy or obvious. Something was bothering Eddie, though, and Buster instincts as his close friend overrode his bearing thoughts.
"Is there something you want, Eddie? Do you need me for anything?"
A pause.
"Uh, no. No, just wandering if my good friend Buster needs anything or wants anything."
"Okay Eddie, just checking in."
Buster was about hang up the phone when he thought of something. Something incredibly stupid.
"Hey, want to know what I need, Eddie?"
"Uh, yeah, what is it?" It sounded as though Eddie was relieved about something.
"I could use a really good dinner is what I could use."
"Alright man, do you want to meet at that restaurant we always met at but never actually ate at?"
Buster laughed at the statement. That sounds more like Eddie.
"Sounds good to me. What time?"
"Whatever is best for you."
"Alright, sounds like a plan. Set a nice reservation for six, would you?"
"Alright, I got it."
"See you at six."
"You too."
Buster hung up the phone and placed it back into his jacket's inner pocket. Although he was nervous, Buster was also excited to have dinner with Eddie. The phone call had eradicated any fear Buster had of the two hanging out since getting the awkward bit out of the way was now done. He looked out his office window and walked over to let some air in. When he looked to the street below, he saw a sleek black car out front and a skunk in a suit waiting outside it. Buster checked the time and ran down to meet the lady while not believing it was 2:48 already.
"Hey, uh, sorry about the wait. I didn't mean to keep such a nice lady waiting! Especially one that freed her after noon for little ol' me." Buster said to the skunk apologetically. He was hoping his charm would eradicate any negative feelings she might have towards him.
"It's no problem, Mr. Moon! I wasn't waiting long. Are you ready to start browsing? I already have some locations in mind for you!" She opened the passenger side door for him.
"Sounds absolutely lovely, my dear!" He hopped into the car and they drove off.
"Boy am I a goddamn moron." Eddie slammed his head against the couch cushion.
He moped some more after he ended the phone call with Buster and thought over what had happened. Why did I say that? Did I really think he would just let me... Why I am I so dumb? It would've been easier to just apologize for what happened. Now I have to go to dinner with the guy... Eddie just realized it wasn't any dinner; it was an expensive dinner. A dinner he didn't have money for. Eddie wasn't living paycheck by paycheck and had some wiggle room, but he couldn't afford to pay over a hundred dollars on a meal for two. I did tell him whatever he wanted. I was so desperate to even offer to buy him a car. Nana wouldn't have liked to have heard about that. Eddie shot up from the couch.
"Nana!"
Eddie made quick work to freshen himself up. He chose a jacket and sped out the door to his car. He engine ignited and he sped out of the parking lot towards his grandmothers house. He would usually call his grandmother to let her know he was coming but the situation was too dire to waste time in a phone call when he could just talk to her and try his best to get the money for the night. He hoped she would understand since he never once asked her for money before seeing it as extremely rude to try and make a buck off of her retirement funds (no matter how excessive they were). He became nervous at the prospect of asking Nana for money but decided to take the risk because she had become softer, well, as soft as a women of her stature could be, after the rebuilding of the theater and the fact she was able to go see shows there whenever she wanted. Nana also loved helping out directing the cast from time to time and suggesting shows to Buster. And Buster always put on a show Nana wanted to see. Buster is such a good guy, Eddie thought as he remembered how excited his grandmother looked when she first heard Buster was putting on one of her favorite musicals. He pulled into the elaborate parking space in front of the mansion and rung the doorbell. He heard the butler through the speaker.
"Welcome to the Noodleman estate currently housed by Nana Noodleman. May I ask who is looking to visit today?"
Eddie pressed the intercom's button and spoke. "Hey Aaron, it's Eddie. I have to speak to my Nana for a bit."
"Of course, sir." The gate was opened and Eddie walked up the steps to the waiting open door.
The penguin closed the door after him as he entered. He was used to his nana walking down the steps for his arrival but saw she wasn't there.
"Your grandmother is taking a moment to get ready, sir. Would you like anything while you wait? A seat? Refreshment?" The penguin offered.
"Uh, no, I'm good where I am but thank you." Eddie stood awkwardly at the entrance.
Aaron never had really asked Eddie if he needed anything because he was usually busy being scolded by his grandmother at this point.
"As you will, sir."
So the two stood still at the entrance. Eddie began tapping his foot lightly against the marble and started to whistle softly. Just when the silence was about to become unbearable, a sight of purple caught his eyes and he looked up. Nana had begum walking down the steps and was still tying her headband unto her wool.
"Oh, it's just my grandson! Gosh, I thought it was someone actually important..."
Eddie just sighed at the usual comments.
"Hey, Nana. How are you doing?" Eddie walked towards the spiral staircase.
"Perfectly fine until I rushed to become presentable. Should've called, Eddie, to let your poor grandmother know to not worry." She booped him on the nose with her fan.
Eddie just slightly rubbed the spot and replied, "Well, I was in bit of a rush and just decided to come over and talk about it-"
"And talk about what exactly?" She said, cutting him off, as she started walking to one of many side rooms.
Eddie followed behind her.
"Uh, well, uh..." Eddie didn't know whether to tell the truth or to just lie about the situation.
I can't lie to her; she is my nana! Well, I guess I don't have to tell the whole truth...
"Stop blubbering child and just spit it out! I like that color on you, by the way; red suits you nicely." She seated herself on a plush chair and Eddie sat in the one across from her. Aaron had come back with tea and biscuit spread and placed it on the coffee table and exited the room, closing the doors behind him.
"Well, I'm kinda in a situation..." Eddie said. He could feel the beginning of the embarrassment forming to a point where his grandmother's statement washed over him.
"Oh, and here I thought you actually just wanted to see me!" Nana took a sip of tea.
"C'mon, Nana. You know I love you despite your, um, harsh ways."
Nana smiled behind her tea mug.
"I love you too, dear." She took a sip. "So, go ahead and talk to me about your situation." She waved a hand at him.
Eddie took a gulp. He sat rather stiff with his legs together and hands folded trying his best to look respectable.
"Well, I kinda promised someone I would take them out to a nice dinner. And, well, I haven't really got the money for it now." He looked at his grandmother expecting a response. Since she remained silent Eddie continued. "I've never once asked money from you, Nana, and, believe me, I feel really bad about asking and I promise to make it up to you in any way I can after the fact. It's just, I'm in a hard place right now and can't afford such a fancy place to take him-" Eddie closed his mouth when he realized he said 'him'.
"Oh! A man I see. Always knew you were a little queer boy. Helped raise you right then." Nana chuckled at her own form of humor.
Eddie turned red. "Oh, no no no, it's not like that."
Nana sat up strait.
"Do not lie to me Edward James Noodelman!" She did a dramatic close of her fan.
I guess I'm being forced into a lie.
"Uh, okay. Yeah, I'm going on a date with a guy tonight. Ya know, wanted to impress him and all that." Eddie felt the heat in his face and looked away. He then panicked. "Nana, please don't mention it to anyone, okay?"
Nana settled back into her chair. "I won't dear. How much do you think you'll need? You'll also need a haircut. Good lord boy, that wool is far too long."
"Uh-" Before Eddie could come up with a number, Nana called for Aaron to bring her 'pocket-book'.
Nana fished out some hundred dollar bills.
"You're right Eddie, you've never asked money from me so enjoy the extra. You needn't pay me back."
"Aw, thanks Nana-" As he reached for the bills Nana quickly drew her arm back.
"You can get them on one account, though."
Oh, great.
"And what would that be, Nana?"
Nana leaned close to Eddie.
"Who is the lucky guy?"
Eddie's heart stopped. He instinctively brought his shoulders up in defense. He opened his mouth but words weren't forming. Shit, didn't think this through. His nana pressed on despite his panic.
"Is it another sheep? Are they a larger or smaller animal? How old is he? Don't date snakes, dear, they're a mess. My goodness Eddie, you need some water? You're sweating an awful lot-" Nana halted her inquiries.
Eddie looked at her confused as he tried to think of a bachelor in his mind. Nana noticed Eddie's discomfort and began thinking as to why her grandson would be so uncomfortable. Nana had a look of bewilderment on her face and she covered her mouth with a hoof.
"Edward. Goodness! Isn't he, well, isn't he a little old for you?"
Eddie was in panic mode now. "W-what do you mean? Who? Who's too old for me?"
Nana stood up and started walking around the room. "Well, I mean, he is rather charming if I do say so myself. And he is hygienic; always look so well groomed and refreshed. And you two have been around each other a while. I mean, I guess it could work. How old is he anyway? Can't be too much, certainly doesn't look it."
Eddie was listening to Nana speak and was trying so hard to not believe she was thinking the same person he was.
He desperately asked, "Nana! Who are you talking about?"
Nana turned around and looked directly at Eddie, closing her fan once again.
"Why, that koala; Buster Moon!"
Eddie's throat closed as he heard the name he feared spoken aloud.
"Nana! No, it's not-"
It was too late. Nana was already walking out of the room. She shoved the bills to Eddie as he frantically followed after her and almost knocked him over.
"Nana please-"
"There you are, Eddie. Now go and enjoy your evening with Mr. Moon. If he even tries doing anything devilish with you though..." She spun around far quicker than any women her age should be able to and pointed the fan at Eddie's face. "I'll personally see to it he doesn't have a theater anymore."
"Uh, Nana-"
"Have a good night, Eddie. Let me know how it goes when you visit me next Wednesday!" She started up the stairs.
Eddie quietly says, "Nana..." before giving up on it.
He turns to leave and hears her call after him again.
"And make sure to tell him I'm only eighty-two!"
Eddie exits the mansion and mumbles a 'thanks' to Aaron for holding the door for him before getting into his car. He spent a minute pocketing the money and rested his head on the seering wheel. He could feel himself getting a headache at the situation he was now in and rubbed his temples. He peered over at the clock and saw it was nearing four. Still have to make reservations, he grumpily thought. For my date... He shook his head and decided he had to do something to distract himself from the whole ordeal. He first decided to set a reservation at the restaurant. Eddie sat back in his car seat while he talked to the chimpanzee ensuring him that this time they would definitely be paying for a meal. He played with a stray strand of wool swirling out from the rest and sat a bit more. Maybe going to a barber is a good idea. He set a GPS to a well rated shop and drove away from the Nana Noodleman Estate. As Eddie drove he hoped that things would go well between Buster and him during their dinner. Eddie was still wondering which was the better option; apologize to Buster and address the situation or continue to pretend as if it didn't happen. Eddie couldn't see why he just couldn't muster the courage to apologize like an adult to Buster. Today, it also seemed like Buster didn't care much or seemed worried talking with me. And the fact he suggested dinner means he is just probably over it by now. Nothing to stress, Eddie, absolutely nothing. Eddie reached a stop light. As he waited his hooves started tapping against the steering wheel again. He groaned again in frustration.
I am extremely stressed. How am I suppose to make it thorough tonight...

What Happens At Grandma`s House Is Totally OK With Me
One of my fondest memories of seeing my Grandmother's house when I was young is enjoying her endless supply of homemade cookies (ones that we didn't obtain at home). Most of us knew where her cookie container was, and also we were complimentary to dip right into it as usually as we wanted. My mother didn't quit us from consuming more, as well as I never keep in mind freaking out eating them either. They were just another reason going to 'Nannie's house" was so much fun.
My moms and dads are the very best grandparents to my kids. Both my Mom and Father have a special bond with my three-year-old kid, as well as they are promptly forming the same bond with my little girl. Going to 'Nana's home' is most likely one of the most interesting outing of the week, and whenever Nana and Gramps drop in, my child tosses a little party, revealing his Grandparents all of his most recent paintings and crafts, and also pleading them to go downstairs to play with him (no begging is required though-they dive at the chance).
When I was pregnant with my son, my mom asked me if I was going to be 'one of those Moms' that didn't allow her kids' grandparents to provide deals with, gelato, and also various other dessert-like foods. Then, I wasn't sure. I didn't recognize just how I would certainly react to extra treats offered out at Nana's house. I understood that treats wouldn't be off-limits in our house (because I appreciate them, as well!) They would be regulated as well as supplied arbitrarily. I understood that we wouldn't play 'food cops' in any type of situation-at house or someplace else-but I think I didn't recognize what does it cost? my moms and dads would ruin them with treats, so it was difficult to state at the time.
It was hard to attack my tongue when my dad supplied my boy a 2nd Lady Guide cookie after he had actually barely consumed any one of his dinner (he was 2 at the time), but after that I thought of that he never consumed store-bought cookies at residence since I didn't acquire them. This is a once-in-a-while occurrence at his grandparents' home as well as, besides, I couldn't control every bite of food that entered into his mouth. I understood that quickly he would certainly be subjected to all kinds of new treat-like foods at his dayhome, birthday celebration parties, and at some point institution. I wasn't pleased with food that my dad was using him, I also didn't desire to say 'no,' as this would only raise my son's need for it, it would include a particular 'aura' to the cookie, which it didn't really deserve.
Now that my son is old enough to know the distinction between a 'enjoyable food' (treat) as well as an 'everyday food' (nutritious food), I know that I am entirely comfy with my parents providing him foods that he isn't commonly used at house, yet just from time to time. He knows that when he is at Nana's house, there are tasty homemade cookies (or Girl Overview cookies, which are my dad's preferred), Kinder shock eggs, fruit juice, breakfast sausages, and other not-so-healthy foods. My moms and dads never overdo, but it brings them joy to see the smile on my son's deal with when they hand him a treat as well as that brings me joy, also. My moms and dads understand that I never ever bribe my boy with food, so they appreciate this and don't do it either. And also using my child unique treats is just one little component of the fun experience of going to Nana's house.
What's intriguing is that my child doesn't anticipate that he will be served the exact same 'fun foods' in the house. He recognizes that Nana's residence is different compared to his residence and also has never gotten home from my moms and dads house asking for deals with that he is used there. Maybe this is since I don't make a big offer out of it. I don't respond in an adverse means, because if I did, my child may begin to wonder why it's such a large offer. Rewards would likely end up being extra demanded as well as desired and also I would certainly have a bigger problem on my hands. One that can ultimately involve my child rebelling as well as creeping reward foods when he shouldn't.
I know that my boy is going to be revealed to deal with foods an increasing number of as he grows older, so I'd instead him discover them in an acquainted as well as fun atmosphere, where all scrumptious foods are popular and also where he is totally free to attempt them and form an all-round taste buds as well as his very own sort and also disapproval. The more I limit these pleasant deals with, the much more he will want them, so I decide to allow them in moderation in the house and also relatively freely at Nana's home (once again, my parents never overdo). I am not threatened by the added treat-giving at by his grandparents-or other relatives/friends for that matter-as I really feel confident that just what I teach my kid concerning food and also nourishment at residence will shape his partnership with food for the rest of his life.
How regarding you? How do you feel regarding your children being provided extra treats/junk food at your parents' house?

LIVE. LOVE. LOCAL. in Living Coral: Pantone’s Color of the Year 2019
There’s something so soothing, warm and well, pretty, about this color. According to PANTONE, Living Coral is “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.; photos (above and below): The Pantone Color Institute
The 2019 PANTONE Color of the Year, Living Coral, has us dreaming of flying off to Acapulco. According to The Pantone Color Institute, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.
We checked in recently with local Northwest Arkansas designers, artists and lifestyle influencers to see how Living Coral is serving as an inspiration to their works so far this year. Here’s what these style and design experts had to say. . .
(Above and below) “I recently traveled to Milan, Italy for a design show in October. This is a cool showroom I stumbled upon while there. The color is not exactly Living Coral, but in the family hue. I have not used it yet with paint, but I have been inspired by this color for the velvets and fabrics to upholster chairs or make great accent pillows”. - LeeAnne Stelte, Whiteline Designs (479.287.4222 | [email protected]); photos: Caroline Stelte Photography
According to Andrea Cornwell of iSpace Design, as an interior designer the best part of a project is how different colors can affect the mood of the space designed. Coral being a hue of orange adds warmth and energy to any interior space.
(Above) “What inspires me about this photo is the mix of a warm color (coral) with a cool color (spa blue). The strong and energetic coral turns to a relaxing, and friendly feeling with the blue added. I like how this room makes me rejuvenated like you feel with a journey to the ocean. Living coral is very versatile and can be mixed with many different schemes. My personal favorite is coral paired with aqua (turquoise).” - Andrea Cornwell, iSpace Design (Fayetteville, AR); photo: The Decorologist Blog
(Above) “We love designing a neutral palette like this soothing spa-like master bathroom then adding a strong pop of energy to the space with original artwork as a colorful (or coral-full) focal point.” - Donna Hanna, Donna Hanna Interiors (1814 North Crossover Road, Suite 3, Fayetteville, AR)
(Above) A beautiful example of coral's “dark and moody” use in design is pictured here in a photo from Dutch designer Kiran Mahes. “Coral gives off such a warmth and energy, it’s inviting to all.” - Nana Winters, Nana Winters Interior Design (Fayetteville, AR); photo: Kiran Mahes Interior
(Above) “This photo is our inspiration for a new Southern project. For this project we want to embrace color, break away from the white and black that is prevalent right now. We are using vibrant dark coral as our central color and adding in blue and white, as well as leafy green. This home is located on a bluff overlooking a river, and we want to bring the outside colors in. These colors make the home feel alive and inviting!” - Casey Sarkin Interior Design (2686 North Timberglen Lane, Fayetteville, AR); photo: Chinoiserie Chic
(Above) “We love the luxurious, international feel of this master bedroom design accented with touches of the warmer and cooler tones of the living coral family. Mixing a major statement piece, an antique screen, with the fine intricacies of Fortuny Venezia custom quilt bedding and antique textile fragments creates an eclectic vibe.” - Chris Goddard, Goddard Design Group (3945 North Vantage Drive, Suite 2, Fayetteville, AR); photo: @goddarddesigngroup
Floral designer Cindy Stevenson, owner of Zuzu’s Petals & Gifts (1206 North College Avenue, Fayetteville, AR), inspires us to bring the uplifting color tones of Living Color into our homes with a simple yet sophisticated arrangement of perfect coral peonies.; photo: @zuzuspetalsandgifts
Don’t forget that Living Coral can tie right back into other areas of our everyday lifestyle and that this vibrant shade lends itself beautifully to entertaining. We’re imagining a spring full of coral floral centerpieces, tablescapes and container gardens!
These letterpress fold notes with marble lined coral envelopes from Shindig Paperie (100 West Center Street #5, Fayetteville, AR) make the most memorable stationery to keep your 2019 correspondence on point!; photo: @shindigpaperie
Want to add an artistic punch of coral to your home, office or community? Original artwork is the perfect format to add a vibrant vibe of Living Coral: Camo Coral Bubbles, 2019, by local artist Tiger Sasha.; photo: @tigersasha
Look for fashion and beauty to be channeling pops of Living Coral. We can’t wait to add this brilliant show of coral color to our wardrobe closet and makeup case!; photo (above): The PANTONE Color Institute
(Above) We love seeing a burst of coral integrated into our beauty regime with eye-popping lip colors for spring and summer. Shown is Velour Lip Powder in “New York” by Laura Mercier. Find your perfect coral color palette by booking an appointment for a complimentary makeup session at Glo Limited (577 Millsap Road, Fayetteville, AR).; photo: Laura Mercier
Sure to be this year’s beach essential, this Lost + Wander flounced romper from Label (116 West Central Avenue, Bentonville, AR) has us already planning our summer vacay.; photo: @lostandwander
Crushing on this ruffled hem sundress in color-of-the-moment coral (above) from at Remedy Road (112 West Central Avenue, Bentonville, AR) which we’ll be wearing on repeat throughout the seasons.; photo: @remedyroad
On a recent on-location-shoot-turned-weekend-getaway with global luxury travel advisor Michele MacDonald of The Core Traveler to the resort property Rosewood Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas (pictured above), we were ultra inspired by nature’s way of incorporating Living Coral into this flamingo haven aptly named Flamingo Cay (we were in awe of the flamingos’s natural coloring that comes from eating a diet rich in shrimp).; photo: @tsgnwarkansas
We challenge you to notice how often you will discover Living Coral in your everyday surroundings and especially when you travel to certain areas of the world (naturally, it’s a more abundant color the closer you are to the ocean!).
Get connected to coral by collaborating with our local NWA designers, stylists, creatives (and travel planner!) to learn more about subtle and bold ways you can add a little Living Coral into your personal style and everyday life (think fashion, beauty, entertaining and home design!).
